I’ve always loved art ever since I can remember. As a teenager I took weekly classes in oils. About 25 years ago I bought some tubes of acrylics but not knowing how to use them properly was not impressed with my paintings. In 1985 I took a beginners tole painting class. WOW! Now it all made sense and I wasn’t limited to painting on canvas. Almost anything became victim to my paint brush!! My love of art knew no bounds. In 1997 I found the Vintage Painters of Niagara (VPON) and joined their group of enthusiastic painters. Over the years I have taught a few friends and family and finally in 1998 decided to expand. My husband and I bought our present home because of one big plus - an apartment over the garage which is now my studio. My husband, Fred, does the wood cutting. I’ve had the opportunity to take classes from quite a few "Big Brushes" and am a Certified Mary Owens Teacher - back to oils! I first meet Mary was when she came to the VPON for a two day seminar. I came both days and loved every minute of it. When she offered her certification program I signed up for that too. Life just gets better! My business is named "Devoted to Details" because I love doing detailed work. Seeing my students happy with their work is almost as good as completing a project myself. I love to share what I’ve learned with others and helping them complete a project they’ll treasure.
