I enrolled in my first painting class in the fall of 1985. Needless to say I was hooked for life. I have found my passion. I started painting in oils then moved on to acrylics.
In 1987 I made the decision to sell my art work. Into our lives came the Arts and Craft Shows, Festivals and all sorts of fun adventures, we do several shows through out the year. With all that came a strong desire to grow in my art work. I started going to the Society Of Decorative Painters Convention and attended classes. There was also the Heart of Ohio Tole Mini Convention and I attended classes there as well. I try and get to as many local chapter classes as I can. I not only grew in my oil and acrylic skills but added watercolor, fabric painting, acrylic with oil glazing, and Mary's pen and Ink with oil roughing. With all this going on Nelson's wood working shop grew as well. He cuts 95% of my wood and if needed assembles it as well. I must say he is my biggest fan and has never failed to cheer me on in what ever I have wanted to do. We have been married 41 years and have 2 daughters and 4 grand children.
The most exciting adventure of late has been my completion of the Mary Owens Certification Program. I love her technique and will soon be opening my in-home studio. I look forward to teaching and sharing all that I have learned with my students. I have access to the products used in Mary's pen and ink, pattern packets and information on the Kopy Art projector. The possibilities are endless with Mary's technique.
I am a member of the Society Of Decorative Painters also a member of the Glass Capital Decorative Artists, Ohio Heirlooms of Tomorrow Society. I am so looking forward to all that is to come with teaching pen and ink.
