My family is an important part of my success in art. when I was 15 and in high school I was on the track and field team and pulled a ligament in my leg. My mother, not wanting me to continue in sports encouraged me to take art lessons with Marta Brestovisky. She taught at Sir Sandford Fleming College. Marta was my first teacher in art and I loved it! I took classes whenever and wherever I could. I got my diploma in commercial art at George Brown College in Toronto and to this day I still take classes whenever I can. I find there is so much to learn and it is never ending. I have been teaching folk art for the past 16 years and it never ceases to amaze me the joy that I obtain from creative painting. Mary Owens' classes have opened a whole new world of art I anticipate that all my students will have as much fun as I do.
