I have always hand an interest in crafts, counted cross stitch and needlepoint over the years. I took some oil painting classes for a while and then in 1988 my neighbor asked if I'd like to go to a Tole Painting class with her and I have been painting ever since. While taking these classes I was introduced to pen and ink with acrylic wash and loved it. In 1992 my husband, Jerry, and I moved from San Jose, California to the "beautiful northwest" and settled in Hansville, Washington which is in the Puget Sound area. I continued painting and started teaching at a shop and also in my home studio. I was introduced to Mary's Pen and Ink with Rouged Oils a year ago when a student visited her booth at a convention and made a purchase and came home and said "you have to teach me this technique. I contacted Mary and purchased items to get started and played around with it. Then in June of 2002 I was checking her website and saw she was having a Teachers Certification class in White Rock, BC in July. My very supportive husband encouraged me to go, as he knew pen and ink was a favorite, so we were off to BC. I believe that Faith drew me to the website that day and it opened a door to a wonderful five days of classes with a "neat lady" who shared so much information and enthusiasm for her love of pen and ink with rouged oils and I knew from the first day I had found my nitch. In October 2002 I attended the Northwest Toliners Convention in Seattle and I helped Mary in her classes and earned my Teacher Certification. I have taught my first workshop and will continue having classes and workshops. You may contact me by telephone, e-mail of snail mail about my classes. I have been a member of the Society of Decorative Painters since 1990 and have attended many convention, also as an Exhibitor when my husband and I had a business of his original turnings and wood items. I have to thank my loving and supportive husband for his encouragement of all my art work and never getting upset with all the "future projects and supplies." Also for the turned and other things you have made for me.
