Hello, my name is Carolyn Silvas and I am very excited about teaching "Pen and Ink and Oil Rouging".  I have always loved drawing and painting, and I have taken as many art classes as I could throughout the years. I started to become more serious after my children were grown, and I had a little more spare time on my hands.  I went back to college where I was taking art classes in various mediums.  During that time I was introduced to Decorative Painting.
   I began taking classes from many different teachers.  I gathered as many techniques as I could and painted an ornament for a Christmas motif contest in 1996.  I won 1st place and was rewarded with a gift certificate to one of the local decorative painting stores.  This certificate was my ticket to a wonderful career in teaching.  The store hired me to teach art classes.  I have been happily employed for 4 years, and recently I started travel-teaching.
   I still attend as many seminars and classes as I can for techniques.  In one of the seminars I met Mary Owens.  She is a very informative teacher with great technique.  I find her teaching method very rewarding. I signed up for her certification seminar and fulfilled the requirements and now am ready to start teaching "Pen and Ink and Oil Rouging" to the world!  
   Mary cannot attend the SDP Convention in Reno in 2001, so I will be teaching and running the Mary Owens Booth at the show with  Pat Winget ["The Plush Brush" ] from my home town in San Jose.  Mary refers to "The Plush Brush"  as her West Coast Connection!
