Hi, my name is Joan Sarginson and I live in Pembroke, Ontario with my husband, Garth - Pembroke is located approximately 150 km. north of Ottawa.  We have three grown daughters, Rebecca (Brad), Jill (Dean) and Amanda (Jeff), and four grandchildren, Riley, Colby, Abigail and Jessica.

I started working with acrylic paint in the early 1990s, and for the next several years I concentrated on that type of painting.  While attending an open house, I noticed one of the pieces was very different and unique – it was one of Mary Owens’ designs that had been converted to acrylics.  Needless to say, I attended that class, and decided that I definitely wanted to continue working on Mary’s Pen & Ink with Oil Rouging technique.  I enjoyed the technique so much that, the following year, in June 2001, I went to Wisconsin and attended Mary’s five day certification course.  I then attended a two day seminar in Brockville, Ontario, where I assisted Mary, and completed my certification.  I am now fully qualified to teach Mary’s Pen & Ink with Oil Rouging designs.

Since 2001 I have taught pen & ink with oils in Pembroke, and I have also done some travel teaching.  I sell most of Mary’s products and pattern packets, and I also have full knowledge in the use and handling of the KopyArt Opaque Projector.

Currently I teach pen & ink with oils out of my home, and I still do some travel teaching.  I was recently introduced to colored pencil art and am now doing quite a bit of work with pencils.  In the fall of 2009 I started creative art sessions in my home.  Students attend and are welcome to work on any project they choose – some work with pen & ink, some with colored pencils, and some with oils.
