This piece was inspired by a photo I took of a quaint home in upper Michigan. In planning my approach to turning this into a seminar choice, I wanted to make sure it hit several new and different approaches to the inking technique as well as sneaking in a few new tricks to adding drama and dimension with color. For the student who has taken one of my previous seminars- this is going to take you further into the designing aspect, and I guarantee you will see some new techniques that can be utilized in future projects. This is geared for all student levels. I designed this piece on 16" x 20" stretched canvas, but as always, the students are encouraged to make their own choices for surfaces as long as they follow the guidelines mentioned on the prep sheet. Everyone has a wood piece or two [unpainted, of course], tucked away in their closet of things that need to be completed, and there might be a perfect wood surface that could be left unstained but sealed, or white-washed and sealed to adapt this pattern to. The design area required for the best results should be at least 18.5" x 13" overall. Call me if there’s a question. Requirements for each student and materials I will provide are the same as listed on the prep sheet included in this portfolio
