My husband and I have lived in Niagara Falls, NY most of our lives. We have three grown children and three grandchildren. They are my cheer leading squad. I worked in retail for ten years and then decided to retire myself. That is when I decided to give decorative painting a try. I started taking classes from Joyce Aiken in 1995. I really enjoyed the learning experience and took as many classes as I could. When Mary Owens moved back into our area Joyce encouraged me to try Mary's style of painting. I was very hesitant at first. When I did decide to do it I found that all the pencil doodling I had been doing all my life finally came into play. The real challenge was the oil rouging, could I handle it. Well with the 100% correctability of this style painting I found I had no problem at all. I enjoyed Mary's style of painting so much that when she began her certification seminars I signed up. Through the encouragement of Mary, Joyce, and all the women who attended this seminar I found I had the ability to design pattern packets. Something I never thought about before. Now I am a Mary Owens Certified Teacher and with the help of Mary and Joyce I have started my own line of pattern packets, which can be found here on Mary's website.
