Eunice is mainly an oil painter (favoring still life, flowers, and seascapes.).She is also interested in decorative painting. She uses acrylic paints for her work on wood pieces, porcelain pieces and gourd painting. Her husband, Ray, of almost 46 years, grows the gourds for her.
She is the immediate Past President of the Newnan Coweta Art Association and a member of the Fayette Society of Fine Art. She is also a member of the Dogwood Chapter Artists, Mt. Ivy Decorative Artists that are both chapters of the SDP-Society of Decorative Painters. She is also a member of the Georgia Gourd Society and The American Gourd Society, Inc. She most recently won a scholarship from the Society of Decorative Painters, which she used toward her Certification class with Mary Owens, in Buffalo, NY as she attended a five day intense certification course in May, 2007.
Recently she became very interested in the new type of pen and ink method with oil rouging, which is shown on this site (www.newcaa.com)- (Artists Galleries), along with several pieces of her work. Eunice has become certified in this method during the last part of the year of 2007. She has attended oil art classes with Helen Hayes (93 years young) of Newnan, Georgia, and does her decorative art work on her own. She attends as many seminars and conventions as possible, especially the HOOT (Heart of Ohio Tole) Painters Convention held in August, in Columbus, Ohio.
Eunice has won many ribbons for her oil artwork as well as for her decorative art. She has displayed at the Spring NCAA Shows around the old courthouse square in Newnan, Georgia, and also the Fall Art Show held at the Historic Depot in Newnan, Georgia.. She has had several art pieces in the SCAVA Traveling Show in the past few years. She has also had an oil painting chosen that hung in Washington, D.C. for a year at a Congressman’s office.
Eunice and Ray have lived in Newnan for the past 14 years, coming from Chicago, Illinois. They have two sons, Dan and Dave, who are both married and have four beautiful granddaughters.
Eunice say’s that “I have made many friendships here in Georgia, through the art associations and church. I find the more people work together as “team workers” and trust that what they are doing is worthy, makes the world a better place.”
