Twenty-nine years ago I met my husband.  He encouraged me to take painting classes.  I did start painting with oils with one of Priscilla Hauser’s teachers.  I painted for several years but stopped while raising my husband’s and my children.  Sixteen years ago, I tried acrylics.  Painted for several years trying to get whatever it took to paint with this medium.

  Six years ago, we moved to the west side of Michigan as my husband had retired from his work.  Our children live on this side of the state and we wanted to be close.  I started once again to work with acrylics and found a wonderful teacher.  I went to Priscilla’s Studio by the Sea and certified 50 hours of training with her.

  Then I found Mary Owens.  Priscilla taught pen and ink but not like Mary Owens.  I attended Mary’s Certification Program in New York in July 2003.  I followed her wherever I could, taking an additional four classes with her.  I did my final certification in March, 2004.

  My home studio is set amongst a pine and hardwood forest on the pond between the Croton and Hardy Dams.  I will start teaching next month in several places and at my church.  My husband has given me so much encouragement and I retired from my job to teach anywhere possible, as I believe this technique can be learned by anyone.  It has the ability to take your mind away from any troubles in your life.  I have nine children and seventeen grandchildren.
