Born and raised in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland I have always loved working with my hands. I have done every craft from ceramics, macrame, quilling to cross-stitch. My daddy was a wonderful woodworker, and I guess he instilled in me the love for creating. When I hit on painting, I knew I had found my niche. In 1984 I was in a local craft shop and came upon 3 gingerbread boys cut out of 2-inch thick wood. The price totaled $45.00. I couldn't afford them, but with my love of gingerbread's, I couldn't forget them either. I found the book with them in and a wonderful local teacher. The rest is history. These gingerbread boys still stand in my kitchen today as a reminder of where it all started. My husband Jack, of over 30 years is very understanding of my passion for painting. For years he has ate dinner around wood, paint brushes and paint. We have two grown children, Amy and Joe. They have given me the other stars in my world, my grandchildren. There is nothing better than those grandbabies! Over the years, I have taken seminars from over 30 national teachers. Along the way, I have met many wonderful people and been blessed with life long friends. I have a small home studio, where I teach classes several nights a week for the past 15 years. I belong to 5 chapters in my area, and have taught at all of them, as well travel teach. I have recently finished several packets of my own, and I hope to have a web site up soon. In 1996 I became a certified Melinda Neist teacher and a helping artist with DecoArt. In 1998 I met Mary Owens at a seminar, and loved her technique. I attended a certification class in Lockport, New York in May of 1999, and was certified several months later. If you want to get in touch with me about teaching or packets, you may call me at (410) 635-6123 or e-mail me at: Kdmyrick@aol.com
