Barbara Moore 7 Dunham LN. Mt. Holly, NJ 08060 (609) 261-1897 njbarbara@hotmail.com
I started my artistic career in the first and second grade (19??) and then again in 1977 while living in Del Rio, Texas - most of my classes were in pastels and watercolor. In 1978 my husband was transferred to McGuire AFB, New Jersey, where I started taking the traditional decorative painting in oils and then switched to doing custom bread dough ornaments and reverse glass painting. In 1983 we moved to Panama Central America where I entered art school and started a business of reverse glass painting using pen and ink. Over the last 30+ years I have taught and sold my decorative painted items at craft shows and most recently at local boutiques.
I met Mary at the first EXTRAV held in New Jersey where I took my first pen and ink on canvas ("First Snow"), bought my supplies, projector, brushes, etc., and there it sat; I guess I was afraid of the projector. Our local chapter, Del Val Decorative Painters, booked Mary for a two-day seminar at one of our local shops, so I dusted off my projector and off to class I went - I loved it. I have always liked pen and ink so it was just natural for me to take my certification class in Philadelphia in February 2002 - I proudly passed certification in September 2002.
I now teach for one of our local craft stores, travel teach in Pennsylvania, and teach for local shops in New Jersey. One of the local shops is expanding and putting in extra electric so I will be teaching rouging hopefully by fall.
I plan on retiring from my full time job in 4-6 years and hope to do more travel teaching and design some of my own pattern packets. I am a member of the Society of Decorative Painters, Del Val Decorative Painters and Brandywine Decorative Painters.
If you have an opportunity to paint with Mary I highly recommend it. She is a great teacher and always makes you feel at home by sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with her students.
If you have any questions or are interested in learning this technique please call or e-mail as I'm always willing to help a fellow painter and look forward to meeting you in my travels.
