I was born in High River, Alberta and raised on a farm a few miles out of town. Growing up and working out of doors on the farm gave me a love of colors and the scenery. I started painting landscapes in oils in the 70’s. Then, of course, like so many others a family and a job slowed down my artistic ambitions to a crawl. I retired a few years ago and my first thoughts went straight to my passion, painting. I happened to see some lovely art work from a lady that tole painted, and guess what, she gave lessons. That was it, I was hooked. So, I spent all my time learning techniques from others, taking more classes, collecting wood pieces, patterns, books, brushes and paints, I just couldn’t get enough.

When I heard about Mary’s Pen and Ink Certification program coming to Calgary, I think I was one of the first to sign up. Mary’s Pen and Ink technique is easy and the results are beautiful. It was a fabulous experience turning out impressive pieces of art as well as learning. Mary is a very gracious person and a wonderful teacher sharing her knowledge, of inking, rouging, with everyone. I had the pleasure of working with Mary, at the "Paint in Alberta" in April of 2002, to finish up the certification, best of all becoming one of Mary’s "CMOT’S".

 I am teaching her techniques to my students and I love seeing the look on their faces as they complete a work of art the first time around. I look forward to many years of inking and rouging and showing this technique to many others.

I would like to thank my husband and family for their wonderful words of encouragement, and thanks to Mary for showing me another avenue in which I can express my artistic dimensions.
