Karen began painting in oils in 1979 with one of the Priscilla Hauser teachers. She taught floral design for 5 years. Karen has also published 11 pattern packets with designs for fabric painting, as well as teaching extensively in Acrylics, Acrylic Washes and Fabric Painting for over 7 years. She is a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters, The Village Painters of Michigan, and Valley Tole of Michigan. She is acting secretary for the Village Painters as well as being a past membership chairperson. She is also a DecoArt Helping Artist. Karen and her husband Bill along with her two daughters moved from Ohio and have resided in Michigan for the past 11 years. She is also the grandmother of seven! A very talented artist as well as teacher; Karen has mastered the Oil Rouging as well as Inking Techniques and was one of the "First Fourteen" in Panama City Beach. Karen is available for classes in her area and can be reached for information on her seminars. She also has access to Mary's packets for purchase, as well as art materials and full knowledge of the use and handling of the KopyArt Opaque Projector. Her business name is "Paintdrops", and as one of Mary's teachers, as within her own business, she has a great rapport with students. Karen assisted Mary at the HOOT Chapter meeting this past month where 86 students experienced the Oil Rouging technique! The amount of students in the class made demonstrating and helping each student a bit of a struggle, but team-teaching with Karen and another certified teacher made things go very smoothly.
