B&B etchall Product Update!

B&B etchall Product Update!

A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING

B&B etchall PRODUCTS!!

The B&B Company is conducting a certification regarding their line of products and I found out some really interesting information regarding the etching crème and liquid!!  I spent a weekend in Leduc, Alberta with Pat Monilaws who is one of my certified teachers and who is now a “master etcher”.  She sponsored my trip there, and I taught 3 days of classes for her students.

While I was spending the weekend with her; we were discussing her time spent with Barb Bosler [the queen of etching!] I was telling her about some of the things I was experiencing with the product, and I was amazed at what Pat shared with me!!  I want to pass this on to all of you that use the product.

I have no problem etching my glass circles at all. Whether using the dipping liquid or the crème; etching is easy and successful.  When I etch the china tiles that we get from the different companies, I have a problem with the etching not taking.  Etching the china plates that I get from the same company is not a problem, but the tiles are really stubborn!  I was telling Pat about this and she told me that the lead content in the tiles could be higher and that would make it harder to etch, but you can reactivate the etching crème by stirring it and exposing more air to it.  So, in other words, spread the crème over the tile, let it sit for 15 minutes, then take a spatula and stir over the surface to reactivate.  When using the etching liquid, remove the tile from the liquid, and re-dip into the container to etch a second time.  The air hitting the liquid and the surface will get things going again.  I now stir the etching crème before using it to add air to the contents.

I hope this information is helpful for you!  It is amazing how we continue to learn as we experience!  Thanks to Pat; I feel better knowing that I was not doing something wrong with this wonderful product, and I now have a better understanding of how it works!  Email or call us if you have any questions!
