Michigan Homestead
PEN AND INK WITH ROUGED OILS
pkt.# 31

This pen and ink design was created from a
photo of a birdhouse I purchased at a local craft show in Michigan. I
thought the license plate fashioned into a roof was a clever and unique
idea. Upon taking this home and finding just the right spot to
display it in the front garden walkway, I grabbed my camera and snapped a
few photos to later use in designing this into a project. This class will
take you step by step through the processes I use to create my designs
from photos. This is a full day project involving the inking with an oil
overlay that is rouged on after sealing the design with several coats of
Matte Spray. Beginner level, lots of extras included in the class. Design
is adapted to an 11" x 14" stretched canvas, but could easily be
done on an alternative surface choice [included in this portfolio]. I will
demonstrate how I used an opaque projector to develop photos and pictures
from magazines into designs. Requirements for this class are listed
on the surface prep sheets.
