CARDINAL ON AN OLD FENCE
PEN AND INK WITH ROUGED OILS

A full-day project, includes pen and ink technique as my oil rouging technique. I chose to develop this project on a white washed wood panel, instructions can be provided for preparing the wood piece of your choice prior to the seminar. The background is white-washed, then sealed well allowing the wood grain pattern to glow through. Prep must be done at least 24 hours before class to allow for curing. Surface choice is variable- canvas, wood, just about any surface as long as it's sealed well to allow for correction and movement of the oils in the "rouging" technique. Easy enough for beginners, but challenging for the more experienced; introducing some new concepts in designing and adapting patterns.
