This project was developed entirely from pictures in a gift catalog that were put into my opaque projector and reflected onto the canvas, then after arranging them in a pleasing manner, I inked them in with the technical pen, and tinted each horse with oils. The focus point of this project is using photos to aid in designing your own patterns. You DON’T have to depend on other artists for ideas, just use objects that are already existing in your decor [like a pattern from a wall border that is hanging in your family room], to photos of your pets. I will show you how I implement this method step by step.
I used 12" x 24" Fredrix medium grade stretched canvas for my choice of surfaces to work on, mainly because of it’s correctibility. This is a standard size canvas, also, which would make it easy to frame. The project could easily be adapted to any other size or choice of surfaces, as long as the guidelines on the prep sheet are followed. This project is geared for all levels of experience- beginners welcome!
