I began painting in 1999 and my intention was to take ONE class just to socialize.  The truth is I really wasn’t expecting good results!  After many years of working long hours as a paralegal, I had never tapped into the right side of my brain.  I was due for a change in lifestyle and wanted to try something challenging – painting would definitely be a challenge for me – lol!!

Well, one project was all it took and I couldn’t wait to get started on another.   I recall starting to paint some evenings after work and then looking out the window to realize that the sun was coming up.  I couldn’t believe it – ME “hooked on painting”, as they say!  I took my certification with Mary in White Rock in 2002 and will always appreciate and admire how much she gives to her students and the world of decorative painting.

I absolutely love to teach and my favorite technique to teach is Mary’s pen and ink and oil rouging.  Everyone has so much fun with this technique and it’s a definite confidence builder.   Once that’s been mastered, one usually finds themselves prepared to experiment and ease into other styles of painting such as the oil enhanced acrylics.

It’s so rewarding to watch students discover their talents, especially when they are convinced they don’t have any – like me – lol!!  I was over 40 before I even tried a class and was absolutely convinced that I was an artistic moron!    I tell everyone that Mary’s techniques will have them tapping into their many hidden artistic talents in no time – no matter how well hidden they are – and it’s so very true!!
